“I’ve made a commitment to providing concierge level service and being incredibly responsive, expeditious and efficient. My firm is really based on building client relationships.”

Best Dental Attorney: David S. Cohen, Esq., Cohen Law Firm

About 10 years ago, David Cohen, a now well-known and respected attorney, decided it was time to make a career move. He was counsel for a company handling an investment project in international maritime law at the time, and found many of the investors were dentists who needed help in another area: buying practices.

After Cohen worked with a few of these dentists, he realized there was not only a need for such services, but that he enjoyed providing them. So, he decided to start a firm of his own, with his focus shifting from maritime law to helping dentists buy and sell practices.

And he’s been successful beyond all expectations. Today, Cohen Law Firm handles about 200 practice sales a year and works with dentists who are interested in leasing buildings, buying buildings, and setting up corporations and business structures. Cohen is known for the concierge-type service he provides his clients and his expertise in the dental field.

“On the seller side, I love helping doctors benefit from the fruits of all their labor. Some have been working for 30 or 40 years, and I get to see them benefit from all their hard work,” Cohen said of what makes his job so rewarding. “And working with buyers is great because most are excited about jumping into dental ownership. It’s fun to watch them realize their dreams. That’s really gratifying.”

What Makes His Firm Stand Out

Cohen prides himself on offering a level of customer service that other law firms simply don’t.

“I’ve made a commitment to providing concierge level service and being incredibly responsive, expeditious and efficient,” Cohen said. “My firm is really based on building client relationships.”

Cohen’s clients all have his cell phone number and can call or text whenever they have questions or concerns—and know they will get a response quickly. He answers emails the same day he receives them, sometimes within hours or even minutes, and is committed to guiding clients through the process whether they’re buying or selling a practice or have another need. He is pretty much always available to them, which gives clients peace of mind.

    Attracting Clients

Over the years, most of Cohen’s clients have come from referrals. The fact that he lectures extensively and puts out a podcast also has helped him attract clients and reach the 200-sales-a year-mark. And that level of experience is attractive to dentists in need of a lawyer.

That experience combined with his dedication to efficiency and customer service is what earned Cohen the Best Dental Attorney title. Here’s a portion of the nomination that first got our attention:

David Cohen is the consummate dental attorney! As most of us hold excellence in service as an absolute essential these days, why settle for less? David’s service has been superb. Here are the things that have made working with him so exceptional:

    1. He is a great listener.
    2. He is amazingly responsive. I never have to wait long for answers to my questions, especially when I feel that there is an urgency.
    3. His service is personal. He relates extremely well and truly cares.
    4. David never rushes through answers and makes me feel like he is totally engaged.
    5. He always delivers on time—or early!
