Dr. Tiziano Testori, founder and scientific director of the Lake Como Institute (LCI) Advanced Implantology Training Center, opened this facility to prepare the next generation of oral surgeons and GPs who want to add implantology to their list of services. The center combines an evidence-based approach with 30 years of clinical experience in the field of perio-implantology and cutting-edge diagnostic and surgical equipment.
Based near Lake Como in Italy, an area known for its breathtaking natural beauty, scenic towns and gorgeous villas, LCI has a team of 12 top-notch doctors who teach implant-focused courses to clinicians from all over the world.
“I understand the importance of sharing my knowledge and experience, along with the necessity of putting together a team of doctors with different competencies who have varied experiences and are of different ages, thereby giving faculty members the opportunity to complement each other, teach and learn from each other to provide the best education possible,” Dr. Testori said. “Every year, we find new ways to make this beautiful Italian setting the site of the most relevant clinical implant course in the international dental market.”
New for 2019, the team has put together “a tailor-made course that will transform the usual practice” through a “learning by doing approach,” Dr. Testori said. Known as Full Immersion Training (F.I.T.), the program consists of two modules, including a two-day cadaver course that focuses on facial skeleton anatomy. The first module is a dissection course both beginners and experts will find beneficial, while module two is dedicated to perio-implantology (surgical and prosthetic phase). Through this theoretical and hands-on course, clinicians build confidence and learn the most used bone reconstruction techniques and soft tissue grafting procedures.
“Attending this module will increase predictability and long-term stability of bone graft cases and can improve proficiency in implant dentistry through standardized surgical and prosthetic protocols,” he said. “Attendants will receive practical guidelines that can be easily used in day-to-day clinical practice.”
Dentists also have the opportunity to attend theory and practical courses on oral surgery, implantology, sinus lift (crestal and lateral approach) and orthodontics, and can participate in workshops and live surgeries in a modern training center. Practical exercises and interacting with other colleagues are also emphasized during training. LCI has a “learning by doing” approach and is proud to share knowledge with attendees.
