Seattle Study Club (SSC) has announced three new appointments to its leadership team: Drs. Amanda Seay, Parag Kachalia and Wael Garine.
SSC Founder and President Dr. Michael Cohen is committed to adding a new generation of leaders to expand the educational offerings, membership, and outreach efforts of the organization.
“Bringing more leaders in will strengthen the study club network and that fuels our growth,” Dr. Cohen said.
Their Roles
All three appointees will make important contributions to the expansion of SSC both nationally and internationally. Dr. Kachalia will be involved in content development for SSC educational resources and events, Dr. Cohen said, serving as our liaison between SSC members and industry partners while using best available technologies.
“I’m truly honored to be part of the Seattle Study Club team and playing a key role in educational content integration across various modalities of learning,” Dr. Kachalia said. “The team at Seattle Study Club is steadfast in finding the most talented educators the world has to offer for our members and offering content in a capacity that fits their stage of professional life.”
In his new role, Dr. Wael Garine will serve as the primary contact for all SSC directors. He’ll also be in charge of growing membership by bringing new clubs into the network.
“It is a privilege to be part of the leadership team with the Seattle Study Club,” Dr. Garine said. “Over the past 27 years, Michael Cohen has built a community of like-minded dental professionals who thrive on learning and sharing information. The level of dental education and camaraderie within the Seattle Study Club is an example for others to follow. I look forward to strengthening our community and expanding our educational offerings.”
Dr. Amanda Seay will serve as the Director of Outreach and Engagement, focusing on collaboratively developing and implementing a strategic plan to grow and deepen SSC’s relationships within the dental community.
“I am beyond thrilled to join the Seattle Study Club as Director of Outreach and Engagement,” Dr. Seay said. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to apply my passion to help others experience tremendous growth on their professional paths.”
Dr. Seay will “be at the forefront of helping us connect with an ever more diverse population of clinicians committed to advancing our study club goals,” Dr. Cohen said.
Dr. Seay, along with Drs. Kachalia and Garine, will also be involved with international expansion. SSC has made considerable inroads with its clubs in China and India while also forming clubs in the UK and throughout Europe.
A Successful Symposium
The announcement of these appointments comes on the heels of a successful virtual SSC Symposium that drew more than 3,500 registrants. With Drs. Seay, Kachalia and Garine all included as co-hosts of Symposium, the SSC team focused on providing an event for members that was as close to a live meeting as possible, and they delivered. “That’s the feedback we got over and over after the meeting,” Dr. Cohen said. “It was not run lecture by lecture but by also infusing the spirit of the activities we would normally have at a live meeting into the digital experience. That made a world of difference. With Amanda, Parag and Wael joining me in the leadership of SSC, our members can look forward to expanded educational offerings, new events, and a renewed commitment to the growth of our global membership to enhance the benefits of being part of our dental community,” Dr. Cohen concluded.
